The Heart Behind Freeda Vet Abroad
When my dog Frida was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in 2023, I was devastated — both by the news and by the overwhelming cost of care in North America. I wanted the best for her, but I also needed real options. Thankfully, I was working remotely in Colombia, where we found excellent care from skilled, experienced veterinarians at a fraction of the cost I had researched back home. That experience changed everything. Today, Frida is almost 16, more than 2.5 years post tumor removal, and still thriving. But it wasn’t as seamless as it sounds. Navigating the logistics was complex and stressful — understanding international travel rules, finding pet-friendly lodging, and making high-stakes medical decisions without guidance was incredibly difficult. Freeda Vet Abroad was born from that journey. I have seen others take out loans or remortgage their homes to cover veterinary bills. I wanted to offer a different path — one where advanced care is still possible, with proper planning, safe processes, and full support from someone who has done it before. Now, I help pet parents bridge that gap with a vetted network of clinics, built-in legal and travel guidance, and the peace of mind that comes from having an experienced hand to walk with you every step of the way. No one should have to choose between their wallet and their pet’s life. And the name? It’s a tribute to my girl Frida. Freeda stands for what every pet parent deserves: the freedom to make the best medical decisions, without being held back by cost.
